A place to hold the stories you love
Help
encore keeps what you have watched, read, listened to and played — and what you thought of it. If something here does not answer your question, write to us and a person will reply.
Getting in
I have an invite code but it will not let me in
An invite code makes a new account. If the address you typed already has one, encore will say so rather than opening it — that is deliberate, because an unverified email address is not proof of who you are. Use the Face ID button instead if it is your own device.
I have a new phone and cannot sign in
This is the one thing encore does not yet handle well, and it is worth being straight about. Signing in on a new device relies on a passkey, and a passkey lives on the device that made it. If your old phone is gone and you did not add a passkey to anything else, we have to let you back in by hand.
Email hello@corefolios.com from the address on the account and we will sort it. We are working on a proper answer.
Face ID is not offered
Passkeys need a device that can hold one and a recent version of iOS. If the button is missing, your email and invite code still work.
Using it
Where do posters and genres come from?
Artwork, genres and certificates are fetched from TMDB, Open Library, RAWG, iTunes, MusicBrainz and Wikipedia when a title is first opened. Theatre is the exception — no open catalogue holds plays reliably, so those get an emblem chosen for the production instead, and you can always upload your own picture.
Film and television data comes from TMDB — this application uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB. Games data comes from RAWG and IGDB; books from Open Library; music from MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive and iTunes; live listings from Ticketmaster.
What is the encore score?
Everyone's ratings for a title, averaged into one number. It appears once at least three people have rated something, because below that it describes one person rather than the thing. Private items and libraries kept for a child never count towards it.
What can my friends see?
Only people you have both added. They see the things you have rated or written about, and your favourites and top five. They do not see your diary, your dates, where you were, who you were with, your tickets or your game results — and anything at all can be marked private in one tap.
Can I keep a library for my child?
Yes. Tap the people button at the top of the screen and add them. Those shelves are visible to you and to nobody else, and never reach friends or the shared score.
Your data
Taking a copy
Settings → Data → Export everything gives you an archive with your whole library and every photograph in it.
Deleting your account
Settings → Data → Delete my account. It removes everything immediately and permanently — shelves, ratings, reviews, tickets, lists, photographs and passkeys. There is no copy and it cannot be undone, so export first if you want one.
Privacy
